Monterey, CA – Three qualifying sessions between now and Thursday will determine the grid order for the 2014 SCCA Runoffs Championship Formula F race taking place Friday morning. For Max Mällinen and the No. 10 Spectrum/Honda from Swan Motorsports, those three sessions represent a trio of key windows for track time at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. In six of seven previous SCCA Majors this season the 16-year-old has started on the front row.

Mällinen is SCCA U.S. Majors Champion

Liberty Lake, WA – Sixteen-year-old Max Mällinen is officially a formula car champion, clinching the 2014 Sports Car Club of America’s U.S. Majors Tour National Championship in Formula F competition. At just 16 years and 90 days old, he becomes the youngest American Formula F Champion to date after a successful debut season in the No. 10 Spectrum 014/Honda from Swan Motorsports.

16-Year-Old Mällinen On Top at SCCA Majors

Elkhart Lake, WI – Liberty Lake, Washington native Max Mällinen scored his first victories in open-wheel competition in style, sweeping two SCCA Majors races at Elkhart Lake’s Road America in his No. 10 Swan Motorsports Spectrum/Honda. The 16-year-old junior at Central Valley High School was able to convert two outside front row starting spots into two first-place drives during the Cat Majors at Road America.

Mällinen Continues Development with Watkins Glen Charge

Liberty Lake, WA –Hidden in his pair of results from the F1600 Formula F Championship Series races at Watkins Glen was Max Mällinen’s carving through the highly competitive field. Learning the track during Saturday’s qualifying after a Friday washout, the youngest racer in the F1600 field advanced six positions in the first race and five in Sunday’s F1600 round, toward an 11th place result.
